We are currently looking for a part-time Custodial Technician to join our team and help support our operations at the Babler Outdoor Education Center located in Babler State Park. Nestled in the valley of Babler State Park in West St. Louis County, the Babler Outdoor Education Center is a 300-acre facility offering unique outdoor education, environmental education, team building, and outdoor skills experiences for the community.

ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED:
Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents.
POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Community Ed team, the Babler Outdoor Education Center Custodial Technician assists the Supervisor with the daily operation of the center, including required custodial and maintenance activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs cleaning tasks and general maintenance tasks per safe procedures and scheduled frequencies, including, but not limited to, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming various floor and wall surfaces with manual and mechanical equipment
- Prepares dining hall for use, including setting up and breaking down tables and chairs
- Cleans up after meal shifts
- Clean and disinfect restrooms
- Empty trash and recycle cans, replace liners and monitor buildings and grounds and pick up debris
- Vacuum pool, empty skimmers and other duties necessary to maintain clean, safe pool area
- Maintain trails on foot using band tools
- Facilitate group functions by setting up and cleaning, utilizing safe work practices
- Remove snow and ice from exterior walks as required, ensuring safe pathways to needed buildings
- Paint area of the facility, both indoor and outdoor as needed
- Collaborate and communicate with Park Maintenance staff to cover all areas and needs of the facility
- Provide general maintenance and repair work to facility and equipment
- Service equipment and various building components on a predetermined schedule to prevent future disruption in service and premature replacement
- Maintain a safe environment by identifying risks and reporting them or correcting them within scope of ability
- Climb ladders as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to bend, twist, lift and manipulate equipment, supplies and mail
- Ability to climb ladders
- Ability to conduct physical inspections of sites with natural terrain
- Ability to demonstrate good verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to drive vehicles on-site and within park boundaries
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with supervisor and park personnel
- Ability to manage site with minimal supervision
- Ability to recognize common safety and health hazards
- Ability to safely operate department vehicle, golf cart and gator vehicle as needed
- Ability to wear job-appropriate personal protective equipment
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
- Ability to work outdoors, travel throughout Babler State Park, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends and may take place during inclement weather
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Must work well as part of a team and individually
- Physical ability to enable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and lifting throughout each shift, including lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion and 20-30 pounds repetitively
- Possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED/HSE is preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment and supplies, including precautions for use preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- At Babler Outdoor Education Center located inside Babler State Park

Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a self-funded department and is not funded through the district's general operating budget. All positions are contingent upon the ongoing financial viability of the Community Ed program.
