The Rockwood School District is seeking an outstanding administrator for the position of Coordinator of Literacy and Speech (6-12)
- Work collaboratively with teachers, PLCs, and building administrators to support curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Work collaboratively to develop teacher expertise in order to implement a guaranteed, viable curriculum, administer common (formative and summative) assessments, and use student data to refine teaching practices in 6-12 English language arts, journalism, and speech.
- Provide leadership for 6-12 English language arts, journalism, and speech programming: model best practice instruction, design, deliver professional development, and facilitate the development of curriculum aligned with state standards and district expectations.
- Stay abreast of developments in curriculum and best instructional practices.
- Recommend and monitor annual budgets for 6-12 English language arts, journalism, and speech.
- Works cooperatively and closely with other subject coordinators and facilitators to vertically and horizontally align curriculum.
- Collaborate regularly with representatives from Data and Assessment, Instructional Technology and Professional Learning to ensure all aspects of the learning process are integrated.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree required, specialist degree preferred with appropriate graduate preparation in professional learning, district leadership, instruction and curriculum development as well as language arts and speech.
- Missouri Administrator Certificate preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Possess a Missouri Teacher's Certificate in Language Arts grades 6-12.
- Three to five years’ experience involving educational leadership, decision making, management, and long-range planning.
- Evidence of successful experience as a teacher with proven experience in instructional improvement and curriculum development; experiences in long-range planning. Minimum of five years successful teaching experience.
- Knowledge of current trends and research which show successful practices and applications for improving the quality of education and that better meet the needs of students.
- Experience with designing and implementing professional development.
- Demonstrated success at designing and maintaining a positive, collaborative culture.
