POSITION SUMMARY: To assist in providing a safe and caring environment where children’s natural excitement for exploring, discovering and learning are nurtured; to provide a good foundation for elementary school, in accordance with each child’s ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Location: Early Childhood at Eureka High School
Position Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30a to 1:30p
Pay Range: $15.69 (9 month, part-time position)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in implementing a program that maintains the preschool philosophy and curriculum.
- Relates, communicates, and interacts with children with patience and compassion.
- Interacts effectively with staff and families in the program.
- Completes 12 hours of in-service each year.
- Maintains CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality about students.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to assist in providing an encouraging, caring and safe environment for children.
- Ability to assume the responsibilities of the Teacher/Assistant Facilitator when the Teacher /Assistant Facilitator is absent.
- Ability to learn and implement preschool curricular strategies.
- Ability to assists with individual and small student groups.
- Ability to assist teacher by setting up activities, preparing instructional materials, and documenting student progress.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of the supervisor.
- Ability to supervise and interact with children on their level (bending, stooping, lifting and sitting on the floor) across settings as assigned (classroom, playground, gym, lunch, crisis management).
- Ability to assists students in physical tasks such as positioning, feeding, toileting, diapering and self-help skills.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- College credit hours preferred/High School graduate.
- Experience working with children in a similar setting preferred.
- Demonstrates ability to assume responsibility, respect, confidentiality and patience and compassion with young children.

- Standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand, reach, and lift 25 pounds.
