POSITION SUMMARY: This position will participate in installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing the district’s network equipment, including infrastructure, wireless technology, network hardware and software, and performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Troubleshoot network hardware, software, and network routing problems. Analyze the problem, identify the cause, and implement a timely solution. Notifies supervisor of any problems and assures a solution is implemented.
- Configure and install all districtwide network equipment and infrastructure. Provide installation and maintenance for time clocks.
- Provides advanced level network support for building Computer Support Specialists, Site-Based Technicians and other district technical staff.
- Install/Maintain/Support the switches and routers for data network as needed for the continued growth and changing technology needs.
- Assists with building and district-wide network documentation.
- Provides assistance with data wiring.
- Participates in department technology meetings to solve district-wide technical problems.
- Track industry trends by monitoring industry sites and reviewing technical journals in order to remain current with hardware and software technology.

- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Climb ladders while carrying equipment. Bend, stoop and crouch to lay cable, install, connect and disconnect equipment.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- College degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Equivalent background or skills gained through work experience will be considered.
- Current Network + and Cisco Certified Network Professional certifications may be considered in lieu of experience. One to three years’ experience in networking and LAN/Wan environment is preferred.
- Must possess a technical knowledge of in TCP/IP, SNMP, Ethernet, Token Ring, Cisco Routers, Switches, Wireless and WAN topologies.
- Knowledge of Design, Implementation and Support of WAN/LAN network operations, infrastructure and IEEE standards for data wiring.
- Possess valid Driver’s License and transportation in order to support various district sites.

- Standard office equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District, work non-traditional hours which may include evenings and weekends.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
