This position works 12-months, 40 hours per week

Working Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

 

$21.63 per hour with standard benefits.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs moderately complex maintenance tasks dealing with heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.  Also, maintains personal records of refrigerant recovery and recycling.    



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  1. Maintain acceptable attendance as dictated by District/Facilities Department standard.
  2. Reads and understands manufacturer's recommendations for the maintenance and repair of all District equipment and machinery.
  3. Services equipment on a predetermined schedule to prevent future disruption in service and premature replacement.
  4. Observes and services mechanical devices, such as, pumps, engines, motors, fans, compressors while in operation and evaluate what maintenance is needed to restore equipment to operation.
  5. Repairs malfunctioning parts by dismantling, removing and restoring equipment according to specifications and manuals.
  6. Seeks the advice of other maintenance workers or the supervisor in order to solve the maintenance problems unique to their experiences.
  7. Maintains inventory of supplies and tools for completion of jobs.
  8. Inspects assigned vehicle for maintenance needs.
  9. Assists fellow workers in the upkeep and repair of all district facilities.
  10. All other duties as assigned.



ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 



BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  

  1. High School diploma or GED certificate.
  2. EPA Certification in refrigerant recovery and recycling.
  3. Advanced training in a vocation college or trades school or graduate of certified apprenticeship program or a verifiable certificate of achievement in a relevant field preferred.
  4. Valid driver's license appropriate for vehicle and ability to legally operate a District motor vehicle.
  5. Two plus years of experience in maintenance work as a certified HVAC specialist, or allied field preferred.
  6. Must be able to read blue prints, plans and specifications.
  7. Knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.
  8. Physical stamina to lift heavy loads and work in both warm and cold climatic conditions.
