This position is part of the Early Childhood screening team who administers developmental screenings for families to determine whether a child could benefit from further evaluation/ 

Hours and location vary based on screening schedules.

POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for the delivery of Parents as Teacher services

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

      1. Ability to establish an encouraging, caring and safe environment for children.

      2. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.  

      3. Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of the supervisor.  

      4. Ability to interact with children on their level – bending, stooping, lifting and sitting on the floor.                 

      5. Ability to work cooperatively as a team member.   

      6. Ability to demonstrate respect and sensitivity to the individual needs of families.

1. Ability to work a flexible schedule which at times includes early, late and weekend hours. 8. Ability to travel to different locations and transport materials and equipment.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to plan and effectively implement the Parents as Teachers curriculum in accordance with State guidelines, the Department’s philosophy of education and program goals and objectives.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, department staff, other District personnel and the community.
• Ability to demonstrate respect and sensitivity to the individual needs of families.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 

1. Experience working with young children in a similar setting preferred.
2. Knowledge of early childhood development preferred.
3. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and families.

EQUIPMENT USED: 

• Standard office equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

• Ability to work in a variety of locations, travel throughout the District.
• While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
