POSITION SUMMARY: Schedule, coordinate and supervise the activities of children and staff at the assigned school, and to ensure that the established policies, curriculum, safety and conduct procedures of the Adventure Club program are followed 

 

195 day position in Parkway location. Salary range $34,320-$38,610 annually based on education and experience.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Plans developmentally and age appropriate activities in accordance with curriculum guidelines
  2. Provides on-site supervision of children and appropriate number of staff to ensure proper ratio coverage.
  3. Follows established guidelines to ensure safety and accountability.
  4. Implements all Adventure Club standards.
  5. Creates an encouraging and safe environment for children.
  6. Markets Adventure Club for recruitment of staff.
  7. Participates in the recruitment, hiring and training of staff. Oversees staffing at their site.
  8. Directs, supervises, gives ongoing feedback and evaluates site staff.
  9. Promotes Adventure Club to patrons during registrations, orientations and open-houses.
  10. Schedules and conducts staff orientations and meetings as required.
  11. Maintains a clean and orderly site.
  12. Available for problem solving for staff, child, and parent issues at all times.
  13. Arranges for substitutes as needed to ensure program safety and quality and may sub when short staffed.
  14. Models for and communicates with staff in order to train appropriate safety measures and interactions with children.
  15. Serves on various Adventure Club, School, and District Committees and completes assigned tasks.
  16. Documents incidents with staff and children and follows up with appropriate actions.
  17. Submits and maintains child, staff and office records as required.
  18. Participates in IEP meetings, follows child’s 504 plans and meets with families to ensure proper accommodations.
  19. Assists in fostering professional growth and building staff morale.
  20. Schedules essential drills as required.
  21. Responds to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
  22. Ensures that parents and families are greeted daily and appropriate information is communicated.
  23. Directs staff in maintenance of Adventure Club areas, supplies, and equipment.
  24. Purchases and/or orders necessary supplies and food within budget, on time, and within guidelines.
  25. Attends meetings and obtains in-service training as required.
  26. Attends and/or presents at appropriate conferences, staff meetings, and trainings.
  27. Documents staff in-service training to ensure completion.
  28. Reviews and approves time cards for assigned staff.
  29. Plans “Family Events” and other activities as required.
  30. Works with students during the school day in areas to include RTi, PLC, etc.
  31. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Ability to establish an encouraging, caring, and safe environment for children within program guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and effectively implement activities and experiences in accordance with the department’s philosophy of education and program goals and objectives.
  • Ability to manage the day-to-day operation of the program, including accountability of all children in attendance.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect and sensitivity to the individual needs of families.
  • Ability to supervise, train and support program staff.
  • Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of the Supervisor.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which at times includes early, late, and weekend hours as well as cross-district early dismissal/late start days.
  • Ability to set up an appropriate environment which may include moving furniture, carrying supplies, and lifting equipment.
  • Ability to interact with children on their level – bending, stooping, lifting, and sitting on the floor.
  • Ability to mentor other Facilitators within established parameters.

 

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  1. High School diploma required. College degree preferred.
  2. 2 years’ experience working with children in a similar setting.Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Demonstrate ability to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities. 
  4. Demonstrate ability to supervise staff and implement policies and procedures at the site.
  5. Demonstrate ability to assume responsibility, respect confidentiality and demonstrate patience and compassion with school-age children.

 

EQUIPMENT USED:

         Walkie-talkie, computer, telephone

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Within school building.
  • Variety of work hours, including evenings.
  • Active position that requires squatting, sitting, bending, twisting, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing, walking.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
  • Outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather, and sometimes in extreme temperatures according to District weather policy.
